The ball did not come back to her little arms. It went straight into the well. She cried so much that a head popped up from the water. It was a frog. It was ugly!!!
“Why are you weeping?”
“Because my golden ball is in the well.”
“I will help only if you let me stay in your Kingdom for one whole day.”
“Oh yes,” she said. So the frog went down into the well to search for the ball. After a while, the frog came up with the ball in his mouth. Ruby was so happy to see her golden ball again. As soon as the frog gave the golden ball back to the King’s daughter, she ran away with it back to the Kingdom.
“Wait! Wait!’’ called the frog,
“I cannot keep up with you when you are running full speed!” So he decided to go back to his well. In the morning, he went to the kingdom and knocked on the door. His knock was very, very loud for a small frog. The King’s daughter heard the frog’s knock. She knew that it would be the frog and tried to ignore it. Eventually, the King shouted,
“WHAT ON EARTH IS THAT NOISE?”
“I do not know father. Well…”
“Well what?”
“It is the frog I met yesterday.”
“What frog?”
“You know how I play with my golden ball? I threw it high into the air yesterday and it did not come back to my little arms. It rolled into the well near our kingdom. I cried so much that a frog popped up from the water and I told him that my golden ball rolled into the pond. I promised that I would let the frog stay in the kingdom for a day if he got my ball. He got the ball for me but I ran away and left him there.”
“Ok, then let him in!”
“But father,” said the princess.
“No buts!” said the king.
“Ok,” said the princess in a sad voice.
So she opened the door and up jumped the frog.
“Hooray!” shouted the frog! “Now do not leave me behind again.”
“I won’t,” said the princess.
“So what are you waiting for? Let me in!”
“Yes,” Ruby said.
“Can you take me on a tour around the palace please?”
